CLUTCH SET TO TAKE ON ROC CITY

On Saturday November 9th, the Wyoming Valley Clutch are set to take on the Roc City Ravens in a matchup between top Northeast Region opponents at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center. The Clutch enter the week ranked second in the region and sixth in the country, while the Ravens enter as the fifth best team in the region posting a 2-1 record. This matchup is set to be the toughest matchup of the year so far for Wyoming Valley The Clutch look forward to the return of guard Chris Shovlin this week after missing last week’s contest. Shovlin enters this week averaging 27 points per game. The contest is set for 7:00 pm at the Wyoming Valley CYC.
CLUTCH WIN BIG IN TUNE-UP GAME

The Wyoming Valley Clutch, the local ABA franchise based out of Wilkes-Barre opened up their second season of competition with a 128-93 win in an exhibition game over the Philly Cannons tonight at the Wyoming Valley CYC. The Clutch started the night strong jumping out to a quick 20 point lead in the first quarter. The Clutch lead dipped down to 12 mid way through the third quarter as the Cannon players heated up from three point range, but co-owner Dave Jannuzzi stepped up with a big second half, and ended up totaling a team leading 25 points on 15 shots, along with 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal to cap it off. Jannuzzi’s counterpart and co-owner Chris Shovlin sat out tonight recovering from a back injury but is expected to return for the official season opener next week. Peter Alexis and Lamont Tillery also had big games for the Clutch with 23 and 22 points respectively. Head Coach Jerry Rickrode helped lead the Clutch to shoot an exceptional 50% from three point range, and 55% overall from the field. The Clutch will officially open up the 2019-2020 ABA season at home next Saturday, October 19 at 7:00pm against the Pottstown Flames.
CLUTCH START SEASON 1-0 WITH BIG WIN

The Wyoming Valley Clutch, Wilkes-Barre’s own ABA professional basketball franchise, tipped-off their second season in team history tonight on October 19th at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center. The Clutch start the year 1-0 with a high scoring showing, beating the Pottstown Flames by a score of 156-107. The Flames stuck within 8 points throughout the first seven minutes of the game. However, the Clutch pulled away by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Clutch put on a show from behind the arc, hitting 19 three’s at 48% efficiency. Overall, the Clutch shot 54% from the field, led by Chris Shovlin with 27 points, Tyriek Steward with 22, and Lamont Tillery with 20. Shovlin also added 5 assists and 4 steals, and Steward filled out his stat line with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Big man Pete Alexis also added a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and guard Steph Draper led the team with 10 assists. The Clutch are back home next week for a competitive game against the Westchester Wildcats on October 26th at 7:00 pm.

The Wyoming Valley Clutch defeated the Westchester Wildcats on Saturday October 26 by a score of 151-103. The Clutch improve to 2-0 on the year with their 48 point win. The Clutch scored 79 points in the first half to jump start their runaway win. The Clutch were led by Pete Alexis and Tyriek Steward with 27 points apiece, and Lamont Tillery led the team with 13 rebounds, while Alexis added 12. The Clutch travel next weekend to take on the Pottstown Flames.
